Puy du Fou: no prayer room, where to pray anyway

No official prayer room at Puy du Fou — but the park is large and wooded. How Muslim visitors fit prayers around the show times, step by step.

Puy du Fou is visited to the rhythm of its shows — and fitting prayers around them takes a little planning. Here is how to do it simply.

The short version

To our knowledge there is no official prayer room, and we will not write that one exists until it has been verified. But the park is large and wooded: quiet corners are not in short supply between the period villages. Add the traveller's concessions and a careful read of the day's show programme, and it holds together.

1. Plan around the shows

The trap at Puy du Fou is the run of show times. On arrival, compare the day's programme with our prayer times and pick your window — usually early afternoon, or between two of the big shows.

2. Find your quiet corner

Between the reconstructed villages, the woodland and the side paths, quiet space is plentiful. A pocket mat, the direction from our qibla tool, and a discreet spot: nobody pays attention.

3. Ask a member of staff

At guest services or from any member of staff, ask for somewhere quiet. It is a simple request and a well-received one at most large parks. If you are staying at one of the park hotels, your room settles the evening and morning prayers.

4. Combining, if you need it

When travelling, combining dhuhr with asr and maghrib with isha is a real help — particularly with the Cinéscénie, which finishes late.

On what is permitted in those situations, we do not rule: that is a religious question, and it is not ours to answer.

The prayer that causes trouble

It is Maghrib. In summer it falls in the middle of the evening programme; the window is short and you may be seated in a show. Checking the day's times in the morning rather than when the call arrives is the habit that fixes it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official prayer room? Not to our knowledge — quiet corners and helpful staff do the job.
Where can I make wudu? At the park's washrooms.
And with the Cinéscénie in the evening? Pray maghrib before the show, or combine it with isha.
Is a pocket prayer mat a problem at the entrance check? It is an ordinary item.
